Learning Tableau: Graphs and Player Dashboards

Near the start of the year, I began to learn the basics of tableau in an attempt to create data visualisations. These were made a few months ago and were uploaded to Twitter, but I forgot to post them here

Visualisation 1: Defensive Contributions v Progressive Actions

This was my first attempt at anything in Tableau — incredibly basic. But it does the job it sets out to do, and as a first attempt, I was relatively proud of it at the time. The toughest part was combining progressive passes & carries, as it embarrassingly took me a while to figure it out

Visualisation 2: Mason Mount Player Dashboard

My first attempt at a player dashboard, and it’s definitely aged badly.

I could have reduced the decimals on the bar charts, and for some reason when I calculated the data from Fbref it rounded all the numbers so the bottom left graph looks off. Bar that and a few design changes, I do think its acceptable for a first attempt

As I said before, these were made a while back, and I’ve since learned a lot more design and collection wise thanks to a lot of help from some great people
